Beautiful, high quality & very decorative 19th Century sculpted Carrara marble bust of a Maiden or Nymph - La Reverie (Daydream) by Eugene Antoine Aizelin, (French 1821-1902).
Very attractive and unusual marble bust sitting on it's own red marble plinth. C. 1880 - 1890.
Sculpted marble bust of a young woman, portrayed with head turned to side, with flowers adorning her centrally parted hair, with tresses falling to her shoulders; the truncation at one side inscribed E. AIZELIN.; with waisted square section socle; atop a marmo rouge griotte plinth, with inscribed ‘Le Reverie’ title panel flanked by scrollwork, with gilt metal base.
Eugene Antoine Aizelin was a French sculptor born in 1821 who participated at the french Salons from 1852 to 1897 and the World's Fairs of 1878, 1889 and 1900. At the World’s Fair of 1889 he was awarded the gold medal. He was regularly commissioned for important sculpted decors of Parisian monuments such as the Louvre Palace, the Opera Garnier & the City Hall of Paris.
The marble bust is in excellent period condition. There's some surface (non structural) cracks to the edges of the marble plinth (as shown in photos).

Small to medium items that aren't fragile will be sent fully insured with Fedex to UK, EU and Rest of World.
We would recommend sending any extra fragile or very large items by van courier to UK addresses. We have also used reliable and affordable couriers for such items to most of the EU.
Large and fragile items can also be sent crated via shipping companies.
